The above may be needed in case my plans to take over the world are compromised by the Chinese; who will eventually take over the world one way or another - if I don't hurry up. The purpose of the Space Elevator (see above illustration and site) is to provide fast access to outer space. If the Chinese do compromise my plans to take over the world, the Space Elevator shall prove to be a useful, swift retreat.
